Michael Chabon’s ‘Secret Skin’

As anyone who has read The Amazing Adventures of Kavalier and Clay knows, Michael Chabon has a brilliant insight into not only the origins of the superhero genre, but also how the genre functions and its unstoppable appeal.

Which is why Chabon’s essay on superhero costumes, Secret Skin, published in the fashion issue of the New Yorker, of all things (and found via The Beat), is more than welcome. Not only is it insightful, but it’s a slap in the face for cosplayers too. Bonus!
