What’s the least suitable game to play in an arcade?

After the pleasant surprise of the ‘Silent Hill’ movie, which managed to remain faithful to the tone, if not the letter, of the games, it seems Konami are continuing the franchise’s expansion into a surprising place… the arcade.

‘Silent Hill’ is all about atmosphere. Ideally it should be played at night in a quiet, dark room with no distractions. Let the mood of the game creep over you, the sense of isolation encouraged by the endless fog and the twitchy soundscapes. It’s so quiet… until something comes out of the mist.

Now, imagine your local arcade: loud noise; flashing lights; baying twats.

Not quite the place to establish a mood of chilling isolation, is it?
