Well, last for now –

‘Dracula’ review

A disappointing adaptation, although a couple of years ago it would have been one of the few things on British TV worth even vaguely considering watching. The dark days of something like ‘The Lost World’ or the Roxburgh ‘Hound of the Baskervilles’ being the only highlight in a Christmas TV wasteland seem to be gone, at least for now.

The boom in imaginative British TV following the ‘Doctor Who’ revival has been astonishing. When we started Shiny Shelf five years ago, the TV part of the site was dominated by episodes of ‘Buffy’ and ‘The X-Files’. Now, we have so many ‘Doctor Who’ spin-offs one week’s output needs to be given a round-up as no-one has time to review each episode individually. Bizarre.
